We are pleased to invite you to participate in the 6th Congress of the Bulgarian Veterinary Union. The congress will take place on November 21–22, 2026, at the Grand Hotel Plovdiv, in the city of Plovdiv, and will bring together leading specialists, practicing veterinarians, and representatives of the business sector.
The event aims to promote the development of veterinary medicine through the exchange of knowledge, experience, and innovative solutions, as well as to support the building of a sustainable and modern professional community.
The congress program will include a variety of scientific sessions, lectures, and panel discussions dedicated to current and significant topics, including:

Students must provide a valid student ID or a certified record book for the current academic year as proof of their status.

GETTING THERE
Getting to Plovdiv
Plovdiv is one of Bulgaria’s major cities and is easily accessible from Sofia, located about 150 km away.
Travelers can reach the city by private transfer, train, bus, or car.
Private transfers and taxis offer the fastest and most comfortable option (around 1.5–2 hours). Regular buses and trains run frequently between Sofia and Plovdiv, providing reliable and budget-friendly alternatives.
Plovdiv is also served by Plovdiv Airport, though most international travelers arrive via Sofia Airport and continue onward.
Getting to the venue
Grand Hotel Plovdiv is centrally located, just across the Maritsa River from the historic Old Town and within walking distance of the city center.
PASSPORTS & VISAS
Bulgaria follows the European Union’s Common Visa Policy. As an EU member state, it allows free entry to European citizens. All non-EU citizens must carry a valid passport and obtain the appropriate visa if required.

MONETARY SYSTEM
The national currency is the Bulgarian EURO. Banknotes in circulation include 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100Euro
ATMs and exchange offices are widely available throughout Plovdiv. It’s advisable to carry some cash, especially for smaller shops, markets, or taxis.
TIPPING
Tipping is customary in Bulgaria.
If a service charge is not included, a tip of around 10% is standard. For excellent service, you may leave up to 15%.
For taxi drivers, it is common to round up the fare.
CLIMATE
Plovdiv has a moderate continental climate with Mediterranean influences, featuring hot summers and relatively mild winters.
In November, temperatures typically range from around 12°C during the day to 4°C at night. Rainfall is possible, but snow is uncommon this early in the season.
