8-11 October 2026
Dear colleagues and friends – medical doctors, residents, radiographers, and students from my country and across the Balkans,
It is our great privilege to invite you to attend the XXI Balkan Congress of Radiology and the XXI Congress of the Bulgarian Association of Radiology, which will take place simultaneously in early October 2026 near Varna.
Two congresses, sharing the same number, at the same time – what a wonderful coincidence! This provides us with an even greater opportunity to create an engaging and attractive educational program, enriched by the participation of distinguished lecturers from many countries. It will also open wider possibilities for young colleagues – PhD students and residents – to present their research and exchange ideas.
As in previous years, both congresses will cover a wide range of topics in radiology and related sciences and specialties, emphasizing innovations, actual problems and guidelines.
They will be preceded by an ESOR course, ensuring additional educational value. By bringing together professionals and learners from neighboring countries, we hope to foster new collaborations and lasting friendships. In the Balkans, we have a lot in common in our profession, in our needs, and more broadly in our spirituality.
So please, save the date: 8–10 October 2026.
The venue will be the Hotel International, which offers excellent congress facilities and a welcoming atmosphere. It is located in the heart of the renowned seaside resort Golden Sands – as its name suggests a splendid place on the seashore, usually warm and sunny in early autumn, with magnificent views.
We look forward to welcoming you in October 2026!
With warm regards,

With deep sorrow, the Executive Board of the Bulgarian Association of Radiology announces the sudden and untimely passing of Professor Miloš Lučić.
Professor Lučić was a distinguished figure in European, Balkan, and Serbian radiology. He served as President of the Balkan Society of Radiology, Chair of the Rules Committee of the European Society of Neuroradiology, President of the Serbian Society of Neuroradiology, and President of the Serbian Society for Magnetic Resonance.
From 2019 to 2021, he served as Scientific Director of the Accreditation Council of the European Board of Radiology. Throughout his distinguished and highly active career, he was elected to and held numerous positions within the European Society of Radiology.
We knew Professor Lučić as an engaging and eloquent lecturer and teacher, endowed with exceptional intelligence and profound knowledge. He was one of the driving forces behind the Balkan Society of Radiology and a strong advocate for cooperation and professional exchange within the radiological community.
With his untimely passing, Bulgarian radiology has lost a true, devoted, and beloved friend, colleague, and fellow professional.
The Executive Board of the Bulgarian Association of Radiology extends its deepest and most sincere condolences to the family of the unforgettable Professor Miloš Lučić.
May his memory be eternal!
